Athletic Camp Scholarships for Kids
The Fulton County Community Foundation is pleased to promote athletic camp scholarships for kids. These are made possible through the Nick Patterson Memorial Fund. The scholarships are for Kindergarten through eighth grade students of Rochester and Tippy Valley schools. Sgt. Nicholas “Nick” James Patterson attended Rochester High School and was a vital part of the basketball and baseball programs. Nick served in the US Army and passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, while participating in combat operations in Iraq. This fund was created by family, friends, and members of the community as a tribute to Nick and his legacy. Applications are available at the office and due by May 2.
21st Century Scholar Program
Eighth graders are reminded that they have only two months left to apply for the 21st Century Scholar Program and, if eligible, be awarded a 21st Century Scholarship that covers your tuition to a state college for four years. Online application can be found at www.scholars.in.gov. See Ms. Menis at the office for more information before school is out.
Incorrect Phone Number
In the Rochester phone book, for Rochester Community Schools, the Middle School Attendance Office phone number is listed as 223-1521. That is incorrect and no longer in service. Parents should call the school at 223-2280 and the phone will prompt you to push #8 for the attendance.
RMS FCCLA at Hickory Creek
In January & February members of the RMS and RHS Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) brightened up the winter for residents at Hickory Creek Nursing home in Rochester. Seven FCCLA members enjoyed creating crafts with the residents after school during these months. The group made stained glass window decorations in January and Valentine's in February, with over fifteen Hickory Creek Nursing Home residents! FCCLA hopes to return to Hickory Creek this spring.
